The Senat Steering Committee


The Senat Steering Committee, which guides the organization's activities, includes a wide range of views. Headed by Mr. Yossi Beilin as chairman, it includes Mr. Ralf Hexel (Director of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Israel), MK Daniel Ben-Simon, MK Shai Hermesh, MK Miri Regev and MK Nachman Shai. The founding chair was the late President Chaim Herzog.

Dr. Yossi Beilin

Dr. Yossi Beilin – (born June 12, 1948) is a left-wing Israeli politician and a former Knesset member, Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister and Justice Minister, representing both Labor party and Meretz–Yachad, of which he served as chairman between 2003 and 2006. He is best known for his involvement with the Oslo records, the Geneva initiative and the Israeli – Palestinian peace process in general. After his retirement from politics he founded "Beilink - Business Foreign Affairs"


MK Daniel Ben-Simon

MK Daniel Ben-Simon – (born April 29, 1954) is an Israeli journalist and politician who currently serves as a Member of Knesset for the Labor Party.


Dr. Ralf Hexel

Dr. Ralf Hexel is the director of the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Israeli Office since 2008. Before that he served in key positions in the fund board in Berlin and offices in Brussels and Mozambique. He Holds a PHD in Literature from Rostock University in Germany.


MK Shai Hermesh

MK Shai Hermesh – (born March 23, 1944) is an Israeli politician who currently serves as a Member of Knesset for the Kadima Party. Former chairman of Sha'ar HaNegev Regional Council.


MK Miri Regev

MK Miri Regev – (born May 26, 1965) is an Israeli politician and former army officer. She currently serves as a Member of Knesset for the Likud Party, having previously worked as the IDF spokeswoman with the rank of Brigadier General.


MK Nachman Shai

MK Nachman Shai – (born November 28, 1946) is a Knesset member for Kadima. Nachman has held diverse positions in the military, the media, the diplomatic and the public arenas. These include: IDF Spokesperson, with the rank of Brigadier General; Communications Advisor to the Minister of Defense; Director General of the Second Television and Radio Authority; Chairman of the Board of Directors of Channel 2 News Company and Chairman of the Israel Broadcasting Authority (IBA)


MK Ronit Tirosh

MK Ronit Tirosh- (born December 8, 1953) is an Israeli politician and a Member of Knesset for the Kadima Party. On 2001 she was appointed Director General of the Education Ministry.
